Connectivity Upgrade at Varian Stables: Fibre, Wi-Fi, and VoIP Solutions
At Varian Stables in Newmarket, just outside Cambridge, we completed a connectivity upgrade that transformed their operations. The project included the installation of fibre broadband installation Newmarket, a monitored Wi-Fi system housed in a data cabinet, and a transition from analogue phones to a modern VoIP system.
Varian Stables faced several connectivity challenges, including:
- Inconsistent internet performance across the large property.
- A lack of robust Wi-Fi coverage in key areas like the barns and stables.
- The need for a modern communication system to replace outdated analogue phones.
As a busy stable accommodating up to 160 horses across four distinct areas, they required a reliable network to support their operations and communication systems.
Our Solution
We provided a tailored connectivity solution that included:
- Fibre Broadband Installation: High-speed fibre broadband installation Newmarket was carried out to provide a strong, reliable connection throughout the property. This ensured seamless communication and online operations.
- Monitored Wi-Fi System: A data cabinet was set up to house the monitored Wi-Fi system, with access points strategically placed to deliver coverage across all areas, including the top yard, middle yard, bottom yard, and barn.
- VoIP System Deployment: We transitioned the stables from an analogue phone system to our advanced VoIP solution. This allows them to monitor all call activity and benefit from features like call forwarding, voicemail-to-email, and real-time analytics.
- Fibre Splicing: Our engineers carried out fibre splicing on-site to ensure a high-quality connection, as captured in photos showing the precision of the installation process.

About Varian Stables
Varian Stables is a renowned horse training facility that can accommodate up to 160 horses across its extensive grounds. The property includes:
- Four distinct yard areas: top yard, middle yard, bottom yard, and barn.
- Additional stables and facilities such as wash bays, a feed room, and a head lad’s room, added to support the growing number of horses.
- A newly built outdoor arena (completed in March 2020) for warming up horses before they exercise on the heath.
